Human eye color is determined by the amount and type of pigments in the front part of the iris, as well as the scattering of light by the tissue in the back part of the iris. There are many different shades of eye color, ranging from deep brown to light blue and everything in between.

The most common eye colors are brown, blue, and green. Brown eyes are the most prevalent, with approximately 79% of people having this eye color. Blue eyes are less common, occurring in about 8-10% of the population. Green eyes are even rarer, occurring in only about 2-5% of people.

However, it is important to note that eye color is a complex trait and is not limited to just these three shades. There are many other possible eye colors, including hazel, grey, and even violet. In fact, it is estimated that there are over 200 different shades of eye color in the world. For example my daughter has unusual green-blue eyes with a hint of brown… they look very unique.

In conclusion, there are many different eye colors, with brown, blue, and green being the most common. However, the wide range of possible shades means that eye color is a diverse and varied trait.
